Yairi YW-1000 was made in the 48th year of Emperor Shōwa, meaning 1973, I love the Emperor based serial numbers. I will write a lot more about this guitar when I got it all set up, I need to re-glue the bridge first. Aug 19, 2009  I’ve looked inside and the label says Anne 1982.a 82. Model No (I’d never noticed the model had my name before) Serial number is 20373 followed by 57.4.02 (Which according to your Emperor information confirms that the guitar was made in 1982. Making it 28 yrs old.

Hand made in Japan by K. Kazuo Yairi was one of Japan's master luthiers. In the U.S., K. Yairi guitars are distributed by Alvarez. Yairi's guitars have long been played by many professional musicians (such as Bob Weir, Carlos Santana, Paul McCartney, Bono, Jerry Garcia, Ani DiFranco, and Monte Montgomery) and many have become sought-after collectors' pieces in recent years.

To learn more about the making of Alvarez Yairi handmade guitars such as this one, go to YouTube and type in Yairi Guitar Factory Tour. The action is low, the sound is full, beautiful and crisp. Playability is great and the guitar looks and plays the way it did when purchased new in 1978. The sale includes its original internally padded chipboard case (as shown in photo) as well as all the original paperwork and warranty/registration cards etc as also shown. The video shown here is not of my actual guitar but somebody that had the exact same model to give you a feel for the sound and playability of the guitar in action. If you're into vintage guitars, it's rare that you will ever find a one-of-a-kind guitar of this quality that has been preserved this close to its original condition from the late 1970's time period.
